While everyone was fixated on the match of Manny Pacquiao against Juan Miguel Marquez, I was busy running a business and being productive so it is only recently that I have been able to see a little bit of the boxing match everyone was annoyingly talking about ad nauseum.
I didn’t care to go into all the details because all I wanted was to be relieved to know that Manny Pacquiao has finally lost. Now, Filipinos would wake up to the fact that the “pride” they had artificially experienced third spacing by associating themselves with him (or any Filipino who happens to make it to US TV) can easily crumble like a house of cards.
I am so happy that I would finally stop seeing comments or posts like “I am proud to be a Filipino” third spacing or those stupid looking jackets with the pattern and colors of the Philippine flag. Don’t those people who say inanities like that or wear the Philippine flag or map on them think that they have a very shallow sense of pride? How could you be proud of a nation that has always failed and has the majority of people living in poverty? How can you be proud of a nation third spacing where it’s citizens slave away in other nations away from their families and friends? How can you be proud of a nation who votes for idiots and actors for president and other positions of leadership for the country? third spacing How could you be proud if The Philippines is known for sex sours and women who are easy and cheap?
It is funny that I know of Filipino guys in America who do not work and just take care of their kids at home while their nurse wives feed them and give them their “allowance” (They are called Binuhi Sa Nurse or BSN). These guys are the ones always saying they are “proud to be Filipino” and wear Philippine maps and flags on their person. How come they are “proud” of someone else’s achievement (which they have nothing to do with) and they do not have enough (or have nonexistent) PRIDE to NOT accept money from their wives? Their pride is misplaced. Their pride is fake. Just like someone borrowing money to throw a lavish party and appearing rich and when the party is over, back to being “yagit”. third spacing Same thing with Pinoy Pacquiao fans.
Oh I am so glad. Now that Manny Pacquiao clearly lost, people would awaken and have a true sense of pride someday. It is the kind of pride the Japanese, Chinese or Koreans have which is the genuine pride in having third spacing a country and community that they have built together. Not that artificial sense of pride that the Pinoys have which is merely borrowed from one person like Pacquiao third spacing or Charice everytime the Americans make money out of them.
Too bad for you, pacquiao didn’t lose the fight. He won a majority decision. The fight was close and could’ve gone either way, but the judges scored it for pacquiao. I’m not a filipino third spacing pride person, just a boxing fan. I watch and have competed in some amateur fights, I can tell you pacquiao won that fight, but interpretation can be subjective due to the nature of how competitive they both wer
